Born on a family farm near Litchville, ND I have always had an appreciation for Agriculture. Helping my parents and grandparents on the farm helped me truly understand the risk farmers take from the moment they take delivery of the seed to the time it is delivered to the elevator. I wouldn't trade being raised on a family farm for anything. I've always kown I wanted to stay tied to agriculture in one way or another. Helping protect farms through the use of Insurance has been a great way to do just that!
You'll notice that the letters AFIS often appear behind my name. That means I have taken the necessary classes and exams (along with annual continued education) to be called an Ag and Farm Insurance Specailist. Any property and casualty agent can say they sell Farm or Agriculture insurance, but is your agent going the extra mile to learn the ins and outs and changes to the industry to best protect YOUR operation?
I am proud to protect our local farmers and ranchers. That is not just something I say, I back it up with action. I have been on Capitol Hill in Washington to lobby on behalf of ND Farmers, as well as participated in Policy and Action discussion for North Dakota Farmers Union, helping them form the policy they use when lobbying on behalf of their members at both the state and federal level.
The favorite part of my job is being on site at the farms I insure. You can't assess risk properly from behind your desk. You need to see the farm first hand and learn their operation. From that point, its up to me to put a protection plan together, present that plan to the farmer, educate them on the options and let them make an educated decision on how to best protect THEIR operation.
